Gluten free food in Lahore(update)
Greetings, working on local food availability for Friend coeliacs and the indicated things by friend, my recent quest for finding new items turned out to be fruit full. Some local companies are getting aware on celiac disease and trying to cater the present niche market. Gluten free as part of branding is getting common and start is good and appreciable. The visit in this week revealed a new company for me as daali earth foods, www.daaliearthfoods.com and claim three different flours to be gluten free that include bajra, besan and brown rice flours. the website indicates the availability in Lahore and other cities and my advice is to mix a portion of these three flours to come up with a blend for general gourmet use(will try to update on the mixing portions in upcoming posts). Next I browsed the gluten free items in the "hot spot" Eesa G(Hussein chowk next to ctc, 5873507) had many different over priced items which include mixes from Bob's Red Mill having gluten free cornbread mix, hearty whole grain mix, chocolate cake mix, mighty tasty hot cereal and chocolate chip mix. The things I have used before and are available, include organic rice cakes that can be used for multiple purposes and fantastic rice crackers. At least both items are to be tried so one is not a laggard specially in the limitedoptions available localy. Pasta lovers can get Italian corn fusilli and make their taste buds cheer. So enjoy. I will update on other foods as i get hold of them. Upcoming posts will include some great tasting cookies and the special post on pita bread review. Keep me updated through comments and email if you get any news and information. Live and be happy.

hey Sultan..i'm amazed to see someone who is making such an effort to help people suffering from this disease. honestly speaking i never thought this problem would b so wide spead in our country and more so people would b aware of it, maybe because i had never heard of it until a fews days back.
Actually i am a uveitis patient since the age of 12. It's an autoimmune disease caused due to RA and many other factors...after being on medication like steroids and immuno suppresants and going thru wid a major surgery..i hav made it a must to read about my disease everyday atleast two or three articles..unfortunately my eyesight is not improving after so many years of treatment.and i came across this article a few days back where it was mentioned that this problem is sometimes caused due to gluten intolerance..uptil now i dint even know what gluten was.Anyways i havent had any blood tests done..but am willing to go on an eliminatin diet just to check if it really does make any difference.anything is worth saving my eyesight i guess :)
the products that u hav mentioned that are available at essa gee would b a great help.can u plz also mention how much they cost so one can get mentally prepared and fill up their wallets before heading for the market :P
